Title taken from a joke by stand-up comedian Jesse Joyce, which refers to the fact that I'm doing what I love: Art History. As a result I may soon be "sleeping under statues in the park, but I'll know who made them, and that's important."

Alma Thomas.

This painting is from the National Museum of Women in the Arts. I helped out with the self-guided card for this work. Here is the copy I wrote for the card:

Alma W. Thomas (1891-1978) created paintings that appear quite structured, but her individual brushstrokes reveal her spontaneity. Look closely to observe her working process, including vertical pencil lines and overlapping colors. Step back to observe the overall effect of color, pattern, and structure. 

Granted, it’s intended for viewing in the gallery but I’m proud of it.
